Begin with Brighton’s bright sea air and easy charm. Stroll the pebbled beach and the Pier, then slip into the Lanes for snug cafés, indie shops and street art. If you wish, step inside the Royal Pavilion for a bold, dream-like palace of domes and chandeliers (ticket needed). Your driver-guide keeps the pacing calm, with time for photos by the bandstand and a seaside pause for fish and chips or coffee.
Head inland to Arundel, crowned by its grand castle above the River Arun. Walk the castle grounds and fine rooms when open (seasonal; entry not included), and enjoy the town’s antique fronts and craft shops. The Gothic cathedral stands close by, and the riverside makes a gentle, lovely amble. We shape timings so you do not rush, and we can add a short lunch stop in town or at a country inn nearby.
Finish on the high chalk ridges of the Sussex Downs for wide views and quiet skies. Classic lookouts such as Devil’s Dyke or Ditchling Beacon reveal rolling fields, hedge lines and sea glints on clear days. Take a short walk if you wish, breathe in the hilltop air, and watch paragliders sweep the valley when the wind is right. Then settle in for a smooth drive back to London.
